Congressional Veterans for Truth

The following is a TV commercial developed and paid for by concerned, nonpartisan American citizens...

Congressional Veteran 1:  I'm a former member of the US Congress who is concerned about the lies and distortions being spread by people you trusted!

Congressional Veteran 2:  I'm a former Congressional Representative, too.  I used to serve in the same House of Representatives as Paul Bereuter, and I can tell you that he never fairly won an election in his life.  In fact, I've sworn out an affidavit to that effect.

Congressional Veteran 3:  Now, we're all Republicans, like Paul Bereuter, so you know that this vicious smear isn't politically motivated.

CV1:  That's right.  And not only did he cheat to win all of his elections, but he lied about his tenure to get that Vice Chairmanship of the House Intelligence Committee.

CV2:  Yeah, he couldn't possibly have been in Congress that long.  And he doesn't know a thing about intelligence.

CV1:  Yeah, that's a very important point.  Remember:  Doesn't know jack about intelligence!

CV2:  Right.  What he said.  Cause we were there, and he didn't know intelligence, I can tell you.

CV3:  And he must've been playing footsie with the Democrats to get on the House International Relations Committee.  Of course, we're strictly nonpartisan.

CV1:  Here's another thing to remember about Paul Bereuter:  Doesn't know jack about international relations.  Ok?  Got it?

CV2:  So then, he flip-flops.

CV3:  Nothing worse than a flip-flopper.

CV2:  Right.  First, he votes to authorize the use of force in Iraq, then, when the going gets tough, he flip-flops.

CV3:  So pay no attention to that letter of his.  It's a load of flip-flopping crap.

CV1:  Anyway, how can it be true?  It's just a lousy letter that got printed in a few liberal newspapers.

CV2:  Yeah, all patriotic Americans recognize Truth.  Truth is what you see on TV, and it has to cost 800 gazillion dollars.  Like this commercial.

CV1:  So remember us when you go to the polls.  Don't listen to flip-flopping terrorist symps.  Vote Bush/Cheney.

Bereuter: War in Iraq not justified, by Don Walton

"I've reached the conclusion, retrospectively, now that the inadequate intelligence and faulty conclusions are being revealed, that all things being considered, it was a mistake to launch that military action," Bereuter wrote in a letter to constituents in the final days of his congressional career.
