Long Drought

Day 0. Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. This is Stormy Wethers with your up-to-the-minute weather. I'm afraid I don't have any good news for you today. The record drought continues. The lake levels continue to drop. The aquifer is dangerously depleted. Mandatory water rationing remains in effect, as well as the burn ban. No relief is in sight. For tomorrow, let's say ... a 20% chance of showers.

Day 1. Some of you may be experiencing light showers today, and that is a welcome relief. However, you should not be fooled into thinking that this means the end of the drought. By no means. All drought conditions continue unabated.

Day 2. Well, that was a nice few feet of rain we had yesterday. Nice change, eh? And the downpour continues today. However, this has had very minimal effect on the lake levels, and the aquifer is still dangerously low. Most of the refreshing stuff is just running right off. Water rationing and burn ban remain in effect.

Day 10. We are looking into whether or not this is a record for rainfall. It certainly is a refreshing change. The burn ban has been lifted, since no one has been able to get a bloody fire going for more than a week. But do not assume that the drought is over. Everyone should be familiar with how massive the runoff is since, at the minimum, all of your livestock have been washed away. Probably shouldn't be calling them livestock anymore. And that burn ban may be renewed at any time.

Day 20. Water rationing has been temporarily suspended, but don't get too comfortable, those of you who are still alive and have not drifted out of the listening area! This is still a very severe drought. You should still refrain from watering more often than every alternate day.

Day 30. Stormy Wethers here. This makes the 30th straight day of rain. I expect that is a record, but there's no one left alive to track it down for me. Don't let all the rain fool you. The drought is as serious as ever. Only a 20% chance of rain tomorrow.

Day 40. Glub ... glub ... glub ...

Day 41 (carrier dove to Noah). Understand rain stopped STOP Heard found dryish land STOP Urgent conserve water STOP Drought not repeat NOT over STOP.
