Imagine the President's reaction to just a
few incidents ...
September 1, 1939, Germany Invades Poland - "We condemn in the
strongest possible terms the invasion of other countries on many sides.
It has been reported that Mr. Hitler's tanks swerved into Poland,
but this has been going on for a long time over there. It's not
Hitler, not Kaiser Wilhelm. It's been going on a long, long time.
To all the dead Polaks, hey, sorry about that. And the dead
Germans, too."
December 7, 1941, Pearl Harbor - "I said there's violence on many
sides. That's a fine statement. There are the Japanese, and
there are the Hawaiians. Not real Americans. Unlike most
politicians, I wait for the facts to make sure what I say is
correct, not make a quick statement. The Hawaiians need to
provide birth certificates."
1941-1945, The Holocaust - "I asked Chancellor Hitler twice if he was slaughtering Jews,
and he said, 'Absolutely not.' So then we moved on to ways we could
cooperate to stop other people from slaughtering Jews."
