Demonizing

"Today we are interviewing the President of the United States on the topic of the deteriorating state of our political discourse. Sir, in recent months, the political rhetoric from, as the say, 'both sides' has become increasingly bellicose and even dehumanizing. Do you have any comment to make on this?"

"Oh, yes. The Radical Left has been extremely mean to me. But don't worry! I'm going to get every one of them."

"Ouch! Er, the increase in pejorative rhetoric and name-calling has been blamed for a sharp rise in political violence. Do you agree with that, and if so, what can you, as Chief Executive, do to 'bring down the temperature?'"

"It's all their fault! The Extreme Left! They're doing it because they hate me. But I'm gonna get 'em!"

"Ow!! Observers who are concerned with the current toxic political stew are calling out 'both sides' for demonizing the opposition, saying that this is a path that leads to political violence. Is there anything you would like to say to, as it were, calm the waters?"

"Absolutely! They're demonizers, all right! They hate America! They hate you! I'm gonna get 'em!"

"Yikes! Uh, President Satan, could you please stop poking me with that pitchfork? Is that really necessary?"

"I'm afraid it is. To make my point, see?"
